Palladam SBI robbery: Police nab one more accused in Rajasthan; Rs 11 lakh seized

Tirupur: One more member of the gang who looted 600 sovereign gold and Rs 19 lakh cash from Palladam State Bank of India, was arrested in Rajasthan. The police seized eight sovereign gold and Rs.11 lakh from him.

The State Bank of India (SBI) branch at Kallipalayam near Palladam, Tirupur was looted on January 23, 2020. The robbers cut through the window bars and gained entry to the safe, where they robbed 600 sovereigns and Rs 19 lakh. A case was registered at the Kamanaickepalayam Police station and investigations were being conducted by a special teams formed under the supervision of SP Disha Mittal. 

CCTV footages from the spot and nearby areas were used for tracing the criminals. 

Last week, the special team arrested Anil Singh from Delhi one of the members of the gang from Haryana. During investigations, he confessed to have looted the SBI, at Kallipalayam. 

Anil Singh was presented at the Palladam Court and the Magistrate granted police custody to investigate him for six days. The investigations were conducted in an undisclosed location. 

During the investigation, he confessed that after the robbery he along with the gang members went to Anantapur and sold the jewellery to Ramakrishna Aachari and Rama Ji Appa. Following this, 85 sovereigns were retrieved from them. 

He also mentioned that Izar Khan of Rajasthan was involved in the robbery. With this information, the Kamanaickenpalayam police left to Rajasthan and arrested Izar Khan. They reportely seized Rs 11 lakh from him

Izar Khan will be brought to Palladam, after obtaining permission in Rajasthan Court.

Investigations with Anil Singh have been completed and he was presented at the Palladam Court by the Special team led by the Kamanaickenpalayam Inspector Arul. Following this, the police have informed that he will be taken to Delhi.
