Addressing a press meet here, Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan revealed that those involved in the assault will be arrested, shortly. He informed that culprits who hurled petrol bombs on the mosque have been arrested.
He assured that all precautionary measures have been taken to avoid untoward incidents in the city. In a bid to restore peace and harmony, the city police have made 127 precautionary arrests on Wednesday night.
Vehicle inspections have been intensified and checkpoints at 40 locations are being monitored, he told.
The City Commissioner informed that religious organizations should cooperate to maintain peace in the city. Protestors have been advised to avoid protests in the city for a week. Last evening, the indefinite sit-in protest by Islamists against CAA were withdrawn.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Balaji Saravanan and Assistant Commissioner of Intelligence, Ramesh Krishna.
