Coimbatore: A solatium of Rs. 3.5 lakh was handed over to the family of Suresh from Valparai who was killed in an elephant attack in January 2020.

In January 2020, a labourer of Thonimudi estate, Suresh (22) was killed by a wild elephant, on his way back home, after work.

As announced by the State government a solatium of Rs.4 lakhs was announced as compensation. On the day of the incident the Forest Department officials,
handed over Rs.50,000 to the victim's family.
Valparai MLA Kasthuri Vasu, today handed over the cheque to Suresh's family iin the presence of Forest Officer, Arokiaraj Xavier and Forest Ranger Kasilingam at the office of Anaimalai tiger reserve.
