Coimbatore: A woman Maoist, an accused allegedly involved in multiple cases in Karnataka was nabbed by the anti-naxal force and Q branch near Anaikatti checkpost during intense combing operations, today, the police said.
Coimbatore: A woman Maoist, an accused allegedly involved in multiple cases in Karnataka was nabbed by the anti-naxal force and Q branch near Anaikatti checkpost during intense combing operations, today, the police said.
Based on classified information, the anti-naxal task force and 'Q' branch carried out a joint combing operation at 5:30 AM on Wednesday at the Anaikatti checkpost here. They intercepted a government bus enroute from Kerala to Coimbatore, via Anaikatti at 5.30 AM, and conducted an inspection.
During the inspection, they nabbed a Maoist named Srimathi, from the bus and took her under custody. She was later taken to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
Investigations are on to ascertain maoist movement along the TamilNadu - Kerala border and also to find out more details on her travel to Coimbatore. It is alleged Srimathi is involved in many cases in Karnataka.
Following her arrest, the Naxal Special Division (NSD) has intensified surveillance along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border in the Nilgiris.
