Coimbatore: Anti CAA protests were conducted by the United Jamath at Selvapuram, Coimbatore, in front of the ITS Hotel, on Ramamurthy Road, within the Selvapuram Police Station range. The protests were held on Feb 22, at 8.30 PM, and a speaker, Balamurugan (a) Ayyavali Balamurugan was invited from Tirunelveli District, to deliver a speech, condemning the CAA, NRC and NPR.

At the meeting, it is alleged that Balamurugan spoke against the nation and the police officials, thereby causing harm to the unity of the nation and to the peace of the public, in general. The police have filed a case against him.
Consequently, Balamurugan (a) Ayyavali Balamurugan (39), S/O Palani, No.6/119, South Street, Barjith Managaram, Palayamkottai Taluk, Tirunelveli District was arrested today (Mar 10, 2020) morning at 6.15 AM, at the Singanallur Bus stand, by the D2 Selvapuram Police Station Inspector Sivakumar. Following his arrest, he was placed under judicial custody.
A special team has been formed to nab the other accused involved in this case.
