Iqbal (54) owns a tyre shop in Patel road in Kattoor here. This evening, while he was walking to a tea shop, some unidentified men brutally attacked with iron rods. Seeing, this Shajahan of a nearby shop who rushed to rescue him also was attacked.
Iqbal and Shahjahan were immeditely rushed to Coimbatore government hospital for treatment.
A police team led by Deputy Commissioner, Balaji Saravanan rushed to the spot and commenced investigation. Hundreds of Muslims and SDPI party members thronged the GH and demanded action on the assaulters.
Condemning the attack, Raja Hussain, of All Jamaat Confederation strongly alleged that Hindu Munnani has been continously targetting muslims. He urged the State government to initiate stern action on Hindu Munnani for provoking violence.
