Coimbatore: Investigations on petrol bombs hurled on a Mosque in Ganapathy, here have led to the arrest of two persons, belonging to the Hindu Munnani.
Few days back, petrol bombs were hurled on a Mosque in Vedambal Nagar in Ganapathy, under the Saravanampatti Police Jurisdiction. Special teams were formed upon the orders of Sumit Sharan, Commissioner of Police and Balaji Saravanan, Deputy Commissioner (Law&Order).
Acting on a tip off, the police intensified vehicle checks in Chinnavedampatti area at 6 AM, today.
Upon suspicion, they intercepted a two wheeler with registration number TN38 CS 9939. Seeing the police, both the driver and pillion rider abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot.
Subsequently, the police caught the two men, who were identified as Paandi (a) Sadaiaandi (41) and Akil (23) of the Rathnapuri area. Identifying themselves as Hindu Munnani members, they said that they had prepared the petrol bombs using beer bottles, as an act of revenge against the assault on Anandh, Hindu Munnani, District Secretary.
They accused also confessed to have hurled the petrol bombs on the Mosque in Ganapathy, according to police.
