Coimbatore: The 52nd annual celebration of Kamatchiamman temple in Valparai took place, on Monday. Earlier, hundreds of devotees took part in the 'Navagraha' and 'theertha abishekam', on Sunday.
Coimbatore: The 52nd annual celebration of Kamatchiamman temple in Valparai took place, on Monday. Earlier, hundreds of devotees took part in the 'Navagraha' and 'theertha abishekam', on Sunday.
The main event, 'Thirukalayanam' (marriage) of Ekambareshwarar and Annai Kamatchi, took place, today. The event started with the arrival of wedding gifts in a customary manner from the Valparai Sri Murugan temple.
Thensangampalayam Sivabala Sivachaariyar group raised a pyre and the wedding of Arulmigu Ekambareshwarar and Annai Kamatchi took place amid special poojas.
Annadhanam was served to all devotees. Various cultural shows including Kolaatam, Kummi, Janda melam, Singarimelam and Devaraatam were held. The festival concluded with 'Maa Vizhakku' procession' from Sri Subramaniyar temple.
