Coimbatore: The workers of ACC Cement Factory in Madukkarai, Coimbatore are on an indefinite strike demanding pay hike for contractual workers.
The contractual employees who are on strike informed that the management paid no heed for their long term demands of fixed wage, allowances and a stipulated time for contract workers involved in the production unit.

They also alleged that the management has been dominating and interfering in employee rights.
'At ACC Cement factory, only 60 percent of the contract workers are local workers, remaining 40 percent which accounts to 600 people are hired from other states. The management has been continously ignoring the fair requests of the contract workers", alleged Chinnasamy, Honorable Advisor to ACC Anna Cement Workers Union, Coimbatore District Council.
He warned that if the management does not initiate steps to hold negotiations, the indefinite strike would continue.
