Coimbatore: Following an outbreak of bird flu at two poultry farms in Kerala's Kozhikode district, prompting authorities to order culling of ducks and hens within one km radius of the affected areas, preventive measures have been geared up in Coimbatore - Kerala border.
As a matter of precaution, the animal husbandry and health department have geared up preventive measures in Coimbatore at 12 entry and exit points to Kerala. Five places in Coimbatore and seven places in Pollachi, are being closely monitored and disinfectants are being sprayed.
All vehicle especially those carrying livestock, poultry, eggs are being thoroughly checked round-the-clock at the check posts.
