Coimbatore: Aadhi Tamilar People's Party members staged a protest, against the DMK Organising Secretary and MP R.S. Bharathi, condemning his remarks about the community. More than 200 members of the party protested in front of the South Tahsildar's Office.

R.S. Bharathi, had taken part in the DMK Executive members meeting at Anbagam in Teynampet, on Feb 14. Speaking at the event, he proclaimed that the reason for many SC/ST community members to have become Judges is an alm provided by the Dravidian Movement. He also made derogatory remarks about the media. This speech elicited a lot of protests from all quarters of TN.

During today's protest, they placed various demands and demanded action against R.S. Bharathi under the Prevention of Atrocities Act, resignation of his MP post and party action against R.S. Bharathi, by DMK leader M. K. Stalin. Slogans were raised against the MP.
The protestors also said," R.S. Bharathi made derogatory comments about the SC/ST community and the press. If no action is taken against him, then we will burn the effigy of M.K.Stalin, in every district."
Following this, the cadres tried to burn the effigy of R.S. Bahrathi. However, the police at the scene, interrupted and seized the effigy.

The protestors then reached the District Collector's office, to submit a petition to the District Collector. There too, they tore up photos of R.S. Bharathi and registered their protest.
