Coimbatore: Thousands of Armed policemen have been deployed across the city to maintain law and order as the shop closure protest of Hindu Munnani and Islamic organisations are in effect today.
A shop closure protest is being held today on behalf of the Hindu Munnani condemning the attack on a Hindu leader. Similarly, a shop closure protest is being held on behalf of the All Jamaat Islamic organisations to condemn the petrol bombers on the school premises. This has led to almost all shops being closed and empty streets in the city.
In this backdrop, the city police conducted rallies to assure the public that the Police is ready to protect the public. Hundreds of armed policemen, led by deputy commissioner Selvakumar, led by Police Commissioner Sumit Saran rallied in Gandhipuram.
