1500 police personnel have been deployed at various parts of the city especially in sensitive areas.
On Wednesday night, Anandh (33) a Hindu Munnani functionary was attacked by an unidentified men near Nanjundapuram here. In another incident on the same day, some miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a mosque in Ganapathy here.
These incidents triggered unrest among the people who feared of communal clashes. To ensure public safety and curb such violence, the city police have formed three special teams to nab the culprits who were involved in the attacks.
The move from the Police department also comes after the Hindu Munnani called for closure of shops on March 7, condemning the attack on their functionary.
The Police Commissioner has warned that no Hindu or Muslim outfits should compel the common people to shut shop or disrupt the normalcy of the city.
