Over 1000 shops including grocery shops, hotel, tea shops and petty shops have shutdown today. Buses, taxis and autos operate as usual.
The police are conducting vigorous patrol under the direction of Valparai Police Inspector Balamurugan as a precautionary measure to prevent any incidents of violence. Policemen are deployed near the post office, bus stations and Gandhi Mandapam premises for security.
