Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Secretary of Hindu Munnani has been brutally attacked by unidentified men, at Nanjundapuram on Wednesday night.
According to preliminary reports, Anand (33), District Secretary of Hindu Munnani was attacked brutally on Wednesday night at around 11 PM while he was returning after attending various functions conducted by his party.
The incident happened while Anand was returning to his home in Podanur through the underpass in Nanjundapuram. Two unidentified men hit Anand with rods while he was on his bike. They first hit him in the arm and then on his head and back and fled the scene.
Anand who was semi-conscious called to his friend Hari through phone and sought for help.
Hari and his friends arrived at the spot quickly and rushed Anand to the Government Hospital in Trichy Road. After administering first aid, Anand was rushed to PSG Hospitals where he is currently undergoing critical treatment.
As large number of Hindu Munnani and BJP cadres flocked the hospital, police force were deployed at the hospital premises and at all sensitive areas.
