GST evasion by Coir Industries: GST team inspects Pollachi and adjoining areas

Coimbatore: Upon allegations that coir industries functioning in Coimbatore district have been evading GST, a team has sent by the GST Commissioner to ascertain the truth.


Coimbatore: Upon allegations that coir industries functioning in Coimbatore district have been evading GST, a team has been by the GST Commissioner to ascertain the truth. 

More than thousand coir industries function in Kinathukadavu, Pollachi, Negamam and the surrounding areas of Coimbatore District. Upon information to the GST Commission in New Delhi that many of these industries have been evading GST for long time, a team was sent to validate the same. 



Accordingly, it was revealed that 20 coir industries functioning in Kallipatti Pudur have not been paying GST nor Panchayat tax, and yet have been recording an annual turnover upto Rs.250 crore.



Investigations are on and it is speculated that many such coir industries who have been making huge turnover but evading GST will be brought to light.
