The cow belonged to Raman, who is a farmer in Devarsolai Town Panchayat near Gudalur. On Monday, the cow went missing and when Raman went in search of his cow to the Kadanaa Kolli area, he found his cow been killed by a tiger.
Forest Ranger Ramakrishnan and team arrived to the spot and confirmed of the pug marks and carried out the autopsy.
The panic-stricken villagers of Devarsolai recalled a similar tiger attack two years back and the several cattle that was hunted down by the tiger. "At last, the tiger even killed a watchman of a private estate. We had to stay indoors until the man eating tiger was shot down", they informed.
They expressed that they are stuck in fear as their area which was free of tiger movement is again witnessing such horrific incidents.
Recently, a tiger along with its cub was spotted walking along a residential area, in May Field area at Ninth Mile.
The residents have requested the forest department to monitor the tiger and chase it back into the forest.
