New SIPCOT to be opened near Perundurai - Industries Minister at IESS in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: The ninth edition of IESS by EEPC was inaugurated today at CODISSIA by M.C.Sampath, MInister for Industries, and Benjamin, Minister for Rural Industries and MSME.


Coimbatore: The ninth edition of IESS by EEPC was inaugurated today at CODISSIA by M.C.Sampath, Minister for Industries, and Benjamin, Minister for Rural Industries and MSME. 



"In a bid to source more business to the region, a new SIPCOT in 2000 acre area will be launched near Perundurai - Minister M.C.Sampath."







Delivering his address, Minister M.C.Sampath said, "Coimbatore is the second preferred destination after Chennai for investments. With its manufacturing capacity, Coimbatore can benefit out of this expo which has 430 delegates from 47 countries. A biotech park will come up at a cost of Rs.80 crore near the Agricultural University for which the tender will be floated soon."



Speaking at the event, Benjamin, Minister for Rural Industries and MSMEs said "Coimbatore is known for many industries including aerospace and defence industry. This expo will bring in more opportunities for the MSMEs in the region. The expo held for the first time in a tier 2 city which will send a positive signal to other cities in Tamil Nadu. Single window portal and ease of doing business in TN have been supporting MSMEs."

He added that 1,06,368 new industries have come up in Coimbatore in the past 9 yrs. 



Anup Wadhawan, Secretary of Commerce, GOI stated that Tamil Nadu has the potential to contribute to national goals in manufacturing. "Participants from Africa, Australia, Cambodia and many other countries have come to attend the event with Malaysia as the country partner for the event. This is a proof for the superiority of our products. One trillion dollar export in goods and services can be achieved only with the help of engineering industry."

Speaking about the event, Ravi Sehgal, EEPC India Chairman said, "Subcontracting, Industrial and Electrical machinery, metal and shop floor and Innovation & Technology are the four broad themes of this edition of IESS and all of which are critical for the engineering value chain." 

Speaking about the slow down due to Coronavirus, EEPC chairman said, "Though there is some slow down in January and February, businesses will get better by April, especially as now India has been looked at as the preferred destination by U.S and European countries. Supply chain to the world Industry has been disturbed by Corona Virus which can be seen as an opportunity for Indian manufacturers to acquire new clients. The MSME sector should take advantage of the opportunity and upgrade their technology and be prepared."

MARii (Malaysia Automotive Robotics & IoT Institute) signed MoUs with PSG College of Technology, Forge and Society for smart e mobility.

Azhar Taib, Deputy CEO, MARii (Malaysia automotive, Robotics & IoT institute), Rajendra Kumar, Secretary, MSME department, Government of Tamil Nadu, officials from the MSME and Industry ministries, Industrial association heads and delegates from participating countries attended the event.
