In reply to the ongoing anti-CAA protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) by Islamic outfits, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced of an indefinite protest against the anti-CAA protests and to raise awareness on CAA, near Gandhipuram bus stand.

Accusing the BJP of using loud speakers, erecting tents and causing panic among the public, the DMK led allied parties have submitted a petition to Sumit Sharan, Commissioner of Police against BJP's protests.
Over 200 people of the Secular Progressive Alliance gathered at the City Commissioner Office and demanded to ban BJP's protests. The action comes after an emergency consultative meeting held on Monday to discuss about the violations by BJP.
