At the meeting held at the District Collectorate, the Collector informed "The draft polling booth list of Coimbatore District, for the Urban local body elections was released on February 26, 2020. Any corrections to the list will be updated and an updated polling booth list will be released on March 5, 2020. Upon finalisation of the final polling booth list, the same will be printed and distributed, following which the preparation of the final voters list will commence. The draft voters list will be released on March 20, 2020."
Briefing on the polling booths and the voters, he said, "There are 1245 polling booths in 100 wards of the Coimbatore Corporation. Out of a total of 14,85,163 voters there are 7,44,147 male voters, 7,40,813 female voters and 203 third gender voters. In the Pollachi Municipality there are 36 wards and 82 polling booths. Out of the total 80,340 voters, there are 39,007 male votes, 41,318 female voters and 15 third gender voters. In the Valparai Municipality there are 21 wards and 84 polling booths. Out of the total 57,653 voters, there are 28,426 male voters, 29,224 female voters and 3 third gender voters. In the Mettupalayam Municipality, there are 33 wards and 62 polling booths. And, a total of 58,586 voters, of which 28,422 are male voters, 30,159 are female voters and 5 third gender voters."
He added that there are a total of 37 town panchayats and 585 wards, 718 polling booths, with 2,80,510 male voters, 2,92,984 female voters and 77 third gender voters, comprising of a total of 5,73,571 voters.
Within Coimbatore District's Urban local body administration, there are 775 wards and 2191 polling booths. A total of 22,55,313 voters, of which 11,20,512 are male voters, 11,34,498 are female voters and 303 third gender voters, informed the District Collector.
