Coimbatore: Amid thousands of devotees, the annual car festival of the 1200-year-old Karamadai Aranganathar temple near Mettupalayam was held at the temple on Sunday.
The Karamadai Aranganatha Kovil near Mettupalayam in the Coimbatore district is one of the most famous Vaishnava shrines which is around 1200 years old. Every month the annual Maasi Magam' Car festival is celebrated in the temple with great fervour and pomp.
Ahead of the car festival, the customary flag hoisting at the temple near Garuda statue set the festival bells ringing. Special poojas and Abhishekas were performed for the main diety Aranganathar which was witnessed by thousands of devotees across the district.
Starting from Sunday for eight days, special religious and customary events will be held at the temple. The main car festival will he held on March 8.
