Coimbatore: The Samuga Neethi Katchi has filed a petition to the District Collector today stating that the Panchami lands in Mettupalayam were encroached by people from other communities and they wanted it to be reclaimed back to the Arunthathiyar community. They alleged that even after repeated complaints no action was taken.

More than 450 families have filed petitions demanding free housing, but no action has been taken so far. Due to a large number of landless Arundhathiyar community in the area, 800 people from various areas of Mettupalayam have demanded that the land be rescued from the occupants of originally Panchami lands to provide free housing land to the landless Arundhathiyar community.
