Coimbatoren: Over eight lakh Class 12 students in Tamil Nadu will appear for their board exams from Monday. In Coimbatore, 34,286 students across 116 centres will appear for the exams. In a press meet today, the District Collector informed that stringent measures have been taken to conduct the exams in a fair way. Flying squads and exam supervisors will closely monitor the exam centres and the students to prevent them copying or impersonation.
In Coimbatore revenue district, comprising of Coimbatore city, Perur, SS Kulam and Pollachi, a total of 34,286 students across 116 centres will appear for the exams. And, 623 students from private centres will appear for exams at three centres allotted for them.
According to a circular issued by the School Education Department, 2,700 examination centres have been allotted in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
"Even the exam supervisors are not permitted to take mobile phones inside the exam hall. All students have been asked to report to the exam hall ontime and those who arrive late, beyond 15 minutes will not be permitted to write the exams", the Collector told.
Th duration of the examination will be from 10.15 am to 1.15 pm. More than 30 high level officials from the Directorate of School Education have been deployed as special observers and over 45,000 teachers will be monitoring the exams, the circular from the Directorate of School education said.
The students have been warned to avoid copying as any attempt would leave them debarred for next two examinations.
Steps have been taken to prevent impersonation, every candidate will be provided with an answer booklet containing the photograph of the candidate on top of the sheet.
