Southern Railway to operate Tejas express train between Mangalore and Coimbatore

Coimbatore: According to an announcement from the Southern Railways,Tejas express train will be operated between Mangalore and Coimbatore. The Tejas Express is India's first semi-high speed fully air-conditioned train Introduced by Indian Railways. It features modern onboard facilities with doors which are operated automatically.

Coimbatore: According to an announcement from the Southern Railways,Tejas express train will be operated between Mangalore and Coimbatore. The Tejas Express is India's first semi-high speed fully air-conditioned train Introduced by Indian Railways. It features modern onboard facilities with doors which are operated automatically. 

Train No. 22672/22671 Tejas Express between Madurai and Chennai Egmore was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tamil Nadu on March 1, 2019. Following this, the Southern Railways is planning to launch Tejas Express between Coimbatore and Mangalore. 

As per the planned schedule, the proposed Tejas Express will leave Mangalore at 6 AM and reach Coimbatore at 12:10 PM on the same day. On return, it will leave Coimbatore at 2:30 PM and reach Mangalore at 8:40 PM.

A recommendation has been passed by the Southern Railway to the 2020 Schedule Committee to approve the Tejas Express operation between Coimbatore and Mangalore. After approval, the officials schedule of the Tejas Express and tariffs will be announced.

Highlights of Tejas Express 

The Tejas Express is India's first semi-high speed fully air-conditioned train Introduced by Indian Railways. It features modern onboard facilities with doors which are operated automatically. 

Every seat is equipped with 

small video screens, automatic tea and coffee vending machines, GPS, LED lighting, automatic doors, snack handles in every passenger seat.

The train has 22 special features including cell phone charging facility, LED lamp with a touch switch on the toilet glass and more.

56 passengers can travel in the upper compartment and 78 passengers in the lower compartments.
