The sessions provided critical insights into technologies fundamental to create Smart Cities. In particular, the role of IT in smart lighting, parking, waste management and smart offices were discussed.
Speaking on the occasion, Corporation Commissioner, Sravan Kumar Jatavath who was the chief guest for the event highlighted the Smart City initiatives of the City Corporation.
He emphasized the significance of bringing together researchers, educationists and industrialists to support the facets of smart cities --
iveability, workability and sustainability.
Dr.K.Prakasan, the Principal in Charge of PSG College of Technology and Dr.P.R.Thyla, HOD, Department of Mechanical Engineering enlightened the delegates on the importance of smart conceptualizations to benefit mankind. They also lauded the efforts of the organizing committee.
Guest of Honor, Krishnamoorthy Raman, CEO and Founder of NAVTAT Solutions, Bangalore delineated the Smart City initiatives, spearheaded by the Government of India, since 2014.
Six keynote sessions were delivered by Krishnamoorthy Raman, V. Ramkumar, Group Head, L&T, Bangalore, M. SubashChandira, Project Mangaer (PMC), Coimbatore Smart City Ltd., Dr. K. Krishnamoorthy, Professor, Dept. of Civil Engineering, NIT Calicut, Dr. S. Moses Santhakumar, Professor (HAG), Dept. of Civil Engineering, NIT Trichy and S.Sivakumar of M/s. Vax Consultant, Chennai.
The sessions also shed light on the multitude of efforts by the Coimbatore Corporation to achieve the stature of a smart city such as lake rejuvenation, smart trees, creation of smart spaces and air quality monitors in public spaces. Forty five papers, segregated into eight different tracks were also presented as part of this conference.
