Coimbatore: The officials from the Narcotics department have arrested a couple for possessing Cannabis and Drug pastes near Ondipudur on Saturday.
Coimbatore: The officials from the Narcotics department have arrested a couple for possessing Cannabis and Drug pastes near Ondipudur on Saturday.
During an inspection, the police intercepted P Singam (40) from Usilampatti, Madurai and his wife Paandiammal (33) at Ondipudur, on Trichy road here. Upon inquiry, the police found them in possession of Cannabis and paste made out of Cannabis.
The couple were arrested and 1.2 kgs of cannabis paste and 2 kgs of cannabis were seized.
Vigil has been stepped up in the city after incidents of drug usage has increased. Upon orders of TN Narcotic Control Division, Additional Director, Shakil Akhtar, and direct supervision of the Narcotic Control Division Superintendent of Police, Kalaiselvan, a team led by the Coimbatore Narcotic Control Division Assistant Superintendent Vincent consisting of Police Inspector Saravanan, Sub Inspector Mahendran and police are monitoring to check signs of drug trafficking in the city.
