Coimbatore: In an event jointly organised to distribute welfare measures to the differently-abled, Minister for Municipal Administration and RDI S.P. Velumani, distributed welfare assistance worth Rs.1.8 crore to 947 people beneficiaries.

The event was jointly organised at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University by the District Welfare department for the differently-abled, Indian Oil Corporation and ALIMCO. During the event, the Minister distributed 1487 motor and battery-operated wheelchairs, hearing aids, prosthetic legs, and assisting devices for the blind.
Speaking to the press, Minister S.P. Velumani said, "The AIADMK government is committed to help the differently-abled and welfare assistance to uplift their lives will always be our priority."
When questioned on the indefinite strike announced by Packaged drinking water firms in Tamil Nadu after the Madras High Court directed the State to take action against unlicensed units and illegal extraction of water, the Minister said they the State will follow the court's order.
