More than 175 vehicles and 350 Youth Red Cross members and students took part in the awareness rally, from all over the district.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by R.K. Jain (IAS, Retd.) Secretary General, IRCS on
February 28 at the Tamil Nadu State Red Cross Branch in Chennai on in the esteemed presence of Governor of Tamil Nadu, Banwarilal Purohit who release a Special Cover of IRCS.
To commemorate this landmark event, a two-wheeler rally began on February 6, from Thoothukudi. The rally was flagged off from the subsequent districts, by the respective District Collectors.
Today, the rally reached Coimbatore after having travelled through Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thenkasi, Virudunagar, Theni, Dindugal, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Pudhukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvaroor, Nagapattinam, Kadalur, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Trichy, Karur and Tirupur.
The rally will come to a draw in Chennai, on March 11 and the the rally flag will be presented to the TN Governor.
Kumudha Palanisamy, Youth Red Cross Society, Deputy Chairman other executive committee members took part in the event.
