Tirupur: Expressing their concern that Hindu Munnani is trying to create riots in Tirupur like happened in North-east Delhi, the DMK and its allied parties have petitioned to the District Collector, Commissioner of Police and the Superintendent of Police to protect Tirupur from violence.
An all Party meeting convened in Tirupur on behalf of the DMK and allied parties, Congress, Communist, VCK and MDMK, headed by MLA Subbarayan.
During the meeting the riots and protests against CAA and in support of CAA were discussed.
"Resolution was passed to protect Tirupur from Hindu Munnani who have been rigorously holding protests in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act. Their intent is to instigate violence and riots as done in Delhi", alleged MP Subbarayan.
He told the media that Hindu Munnani has blocked the entire school area near the Pushpa roundabout, and erected huge tents and are protesting in support of CAA.
Expressing his concern over riots, he opined that Tirupur is a global knitwear hub. If riots or any form of violence erupts in the district, the economy and industries will take a major hit.
Hence, the District Administration and the Police department must take proactive steps to avoid untoward events.
