City Police books 485 cases; against parking violation in a single day

Coimbatore: Ever since the Motor Vehicles [Amendment] act has come to effect, the city police have been very strict of imposing fines and challans to traffic violators of all forms.


Coimbatore: Ever since the Motor Vehicles [Amendment] act has come to effect, the city police have been very strict of imposing fines and challans to traffic violators of all forms. 

In the city, parking violations has become a cause of the concern of the traffic personnel, as unruly parking hampers the traffic and narrows down the road. Inspite of warnings, the cases of parking violations have not come down, say the police. 

In order to make people follow the parking rules strictly, the city traffic police have registered as many as 485 cases on Thursday, on those for park their vehicles in no-parking zones and have imposed a fine of Rs 100. 

Roadside parking has been banned on Cross Cut Road, 100 Feet Road, RS Puram, Saibaba Colony, Peelamedu, Papanaickenpalayam, Hope College, Singanallur, Ondipudur, Ukkadam, Oppanakkara Street, Big Bazaar Street, Podanur and Kurichi. Irked by the unruly parking, the pedestrians and the public often raise concern to the traffic police in the respective areas. 

Subsequently, City police Commissioner Sumit Sharan has instructed the Deputy Commissioner Of Police (traffic) R. Mutharasu to take action against all violators. 

On Thursday morning, the traffic police personnel conducted a special drive and chained the motorcycles parked on no-parking zones and locked the wheels of the cars and two-wheelers with clamps. The violators were issued challans under the Motor Vehicle Act and imposed a fine of Rs 100.
