The 50th anniversary of Thuglaq magazine took place in Chennai. Actor Rajinikanth had in the event praised Thuglaq magazine and made a controversial comment on Periyar.
Several organizations denounced the comment and laid siege to Rajini's house and Tughlaq Magazine Editor Gurumoorthy's house. Ten TPDK members were arrested and charged for petrol bombing the Editor Gurumurthy's home.
Condemning the arrest and false accusations, various parties including TPDK, SDPI, VCK, Tamil Puligal, AICITU, Lawyers Association for Social justice, May 17 Movement, Tamil Vidiyal Katchi protested.
They demanded the immediate withdrawal of the case by Tamil Nadu government and asked to release from the Goondas Act.
