Coimbatore: The arrest of four members of a private company in the residential areas of Ukkadam and Kottaimedu in Coimbatore, who were captured by the public and handed over to the police for "indulging in census taking" has created a stir in the area.
Islamic people and various political parties in the opposition are engaged in a series of protests across the country opposing legislation such as the CAA, NRC and NPR. In this charged atmosphere, people have been wary of any move towards population analysis.
In this scenario, people became wary of 4 youths who were in the area collecting proofs like Aadhaar cards and birth certificates in Ukkadam and Kottaimedu. This created panic and a stir in the area.

The information was first spread to people in the area that census was being taken. Following this, Jamaat organizers and civilians held the 4 young men who were involved in the census.

While the people of the area had questioned their motive and company details, the youth have responded with no clarity to the Jamaat. The Jamaat then informed the Ukkadam police station.

The police then took the 4 young men to the police station and found that they were working for Wilson Care, a company that manufactures immunization and child care drugs and they had surveyed the public as a part of market research.
