Speaking at the event, he lamented, "When you feel insulted in the very place you respect and love, it tends to make you angry. Not being a recipient of any award at the Vikatan Awards, for the movie 'Otha Seruppu', made me feel sorry! That the movie did not deserve any award or even a appreciation, caused me to lament. But I expressed it on the stage. I will not receive anymore awards from Vikatan, but I will make better movies, for sure. I have received all the awards including nomination to the Oscars, but not the Ananda Vikatan Award, which makes me wonder why?"
"Every common man, especially students should think about politics. Rajini and Kamal have entered into politics, after being satisfied with their stint in the movies. But they too are struggling in politics now. I will come to politics when I am satisfied with my work in the movies," he answered, to a question about his entry into politics.
Following this, he said, "Nepotism will help, only if the actor is talented', he said, and further expressed concern about the accident on the sets of Indian-2, "There should definitely be a separate manager to take care of the safety issues on the sets of movies. It involves close to 200 members on a movie set, where safety is primary. I will write to the Producers Council to form a separate team for this issue. People should not stagnate with the available political parties. A revolution must happen, for growth to take place in a country."
Talking about the IT raids in actor Vijay's house, he said, "He will be a real hero when he faces such trials in real life too."
When questioned regarding the CAA, he said, "Rajini has expressed that there is no use protesting after a law is made. However nothing comes free, without a demand. It is worrying to see that the dwindling numbers at the Islamic protests. I don’t know if it is not possible to change a law, but a change can happen only when people protest and demand for it. Something must be done, instead of just talking about it and creating violence, something constructive must be done. Rajini might be pro BJP or against BJP, but his opinions are given far greater importance which then makes his opinions important. Why don't we just keep his opinions aside?", he questioned.
Expressing his support for the protestors, he expressed his desire to do something for them. He also informed that he would be making his next movie 'Iravin Nilal', a movie shot in a single shot.
