He chaired a meeting at the District Collectorate here, today to sensitise the officials of various government departments on the importance of Right to Information (RTI) Act. District Collector, K Rajamani was also present.
The commissioner informed that the RTI Act enables the public to seek information from any government department. During the session, 50 cases in which officials failed to provide information on time were inquired.
In addition, a consultative meeting was held for all departmental government officials on RTI.
The Commissioner informed that any citizen of the country can request information from a public authority in any government department through RTI, and the reply for the same must be made within a minimum of 30 days, from the date of submission of the RTI query.
The Commissioner also interacted with the Public Information Officers and clarified their queries regarding the RTI Act.
