The draft polling stations list for the upcoming local body elections in the Corporation limit was released by Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner J.Sravan Kumar, today.
Releasing the list, the Corporation Commissioner said, " 29 polling stations have been added to the existing list of 1216. So, the final count is 1245. As per the norms of the election commission, each polling station will have less than 1400 voters. Basic facilities like lighting, drinking water, toilet and ramp facilities will be provided at all 1245 polling stations."
The Commissioner added that all suggestions proposed at the all party meet on Monday, will be considered.
He also noted that 36,000 new voters have been enrolled to the electoral roll and there a total of 14,85,163 voters in Coimbatore, of which 7,44,147 are male and 7,40,813 are female voters.
The Commissioner stated that 29 new polling stations have been added to accommodate the newly added 36,000 voters.
