Motivating more women to join the party will be my foremost work - Mookambika Rathinam, MNM

"Women's representation in politics is growing slowly. Leaving aside the stereotyping and misconceptions, more women representation in a political party will ensure better representation for women-related issues. Hence, my foresmost duty would be to motivate more women to join the party", stated Mookambika Rathinam, the newly-appointed State Secretary of Women and Child Welfare Wing of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM).

Hence, my foresmost duty would be to motivate more women to join the party", stated Mookambika Rathinam, the newly-appointed State Secretary of Women and Child Welfare Wing of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM). 

Mookambika Rathinam who hails from Pollachi was the first party representative to contest in the Pollachi Loksabha elections in 2019. After securing 59693 votes as a debutant, Mookambika has been very active in the party politics. 

In an official announcement on Tuesday by Kamal Haasan, Party President of MNM, Mookambika was appointed as the State Secretary of Makkal Needhi Maiam's Women and Child Welfare Wing.

Briefing on her future plans of strengthening the Women's wing, Mookambika Rathinam told SimpliCity that she focus on motivating more women to join politics. 

"I feel very happy and responsible to head the party's Women and Child Welfare Wing. Since 50 per cent of the population are women, more women should enrol themselves in politics. As a party, MNM has novel agendas for towards women and child protection", she noted. 

"Initially, my focus will be to configure and strengthen the Women's wing of the party", she added. 

"Makkal Needhi Maiam will always fight for establishing equal rights for Women and strongly condemn harassments of all forms against women and children. I will strive hard to make meaningful contributions for their welfare", assured Mookambika. 

She also expressed her gratitude to the party President for entrusting her with such a responsible post.
