Coimbatore: Around 24 protestors of Tamil Puligal Katchi courted arrested on Monday for attempting to lay siege to the District Collectorate demanding the release of the seven convicts, including Perarivalan associated in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
Coimbatore: Around 24 protestors of Tamil Puligal Katchi courted arrested on Monday for attempting to lay siege to the District Collectorate demanding the release of the seven convicts, including Perarivalan associated in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
They raised slogans condemning the State government for not initiating the release of Perarivalan, who has been in prison for 29 years. They also cited the ill health of his parents who are now 78 and 72 years old.
The protestors alleged that despite passing a resolution in the assembly for releasing the seven convicts including Perarivalan, the Governor has been delaying the process and approving the same.
Following the attempt to lay siege to the District Collectorate, tense situation prevailed at the Collectorate.
