Coimbatore: A 26-year-old bull tamer from Pudukottai was gored to death in the third edition of the Jallikattu event held in Coimbatore on Sunday.
While over 772 bull tamers who sustained minor injuries were attended to at the medical camps stationed at Chettipalayam, the venue site for the Jallikattu, 12 people were rushed to KMCH hospital on Avinashi road for further treatment. And, six of them were shifted to Coimbatore government hospital for treatment.
Earlier, the sport was flagged off by Minister for Municipal administration, SP Velumani in which 900 bulls and 820 bull tamers took part with zeal.
The 26-year-old who was gored to death has been identified as Subhash Chandra Bose from Virallimalai area in Pudukottai district. The fellow bull tamers have expressed shock over the accident.
