Coimbatore: The third edition of Jallikattu was kick started on Sunday near Chettipalayam, amid great fanfare. The event is jointly organised by the Coimbatore District Administration and the Coimbatore Jallikattu Association.
Coimbatore: The third edition of Jallikattu was kick started on Sunday near Chettipalayam, amid great fanfare. The event is jointly organised by the Coimbatore District Administration and the Coimbatore Jallikattu Association.

Minister for Municipal Administration and RDI, S.P. Velumani flagged off the event. The event this year saw the participation of 900 bulls and 820 bull tamers who thronged the venue from various districts across the State.
Tamilisai Sounderajan, Governor of Telangana was the guest of honor for the event.

The raging bulls and the taming heroes contested fiercely and enthralled the spectators. Notably, bulls belonging to Minster S.P. Velumani and Minister Vijaya Bhaskar Alo took part in the competition.

Thousands of spectators enjoyed the traditional sport in which the bull tamers and the bulls who emerged victorious were awarded attractive prizes including cars and two-wheelers.
More than 2000 police personnel were deployed to ensure safety of the public. Adequate ambulances and medical teams were stationed at the venue.
