Minister inaugurates developmental activities worth Rs. 9.3 crore in West and South Zone

Coimbatore: Minister for Municipal Administration and RDI, S.P. Velumani inaugurated developmental activities to the tune of Rs.9.31 crore in the West Zone of the Coimbatore Corporation Ward No. 23 and the South Zone of the Coimbatore Corporation Ward Nos: 76, 77, 79, 86, 90, 91, 92 and 93.


Coimbatore: Minister for Municipal Administration and RDI, S.P. Velumani inaugurated developmental activities to the tune of Rs.9.31 crore in the West Zone of the Coimbatore Corporation Ward No. 23 and the South Zone of the Coimbatore Corporation Ward Nos: 76, 77, 79, 86, 90, 91, 92 and 93.

The event was presided by the Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer J. Sravan Kumar and Deputy Commissioner S. Prasanna Ramasamy.



The Children's park built from the Corporation General Fund at a cost of Rs. 49.50 lakhs, at Ward no. 23 of the West Zone of the Coimbatore Corporation was inaugurated.



Also, ground breaking ceremony, for the reconstruction of a dilapidated bridge in South Zone, Ward no. 77, Shanmuga Nagar (Mutthanan Kulam Vaikaal) area was also carried, today. "The new bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs.75 lakhs from Corporation general fund", the release noted. 

Similarly, the ground breaking ceremony, for the construction of a genset room and the installation of a 125 KVA Genset at a cost of Rs. 20 lakhs for the underground sewerage waste water pumping station at Chokkampudur and ground breaking ceremony at Arul Garden for the construction and the improvement of the compound wall of the common allotment area, to be undertaken at a cost of Rs.12.5 lakhs was kick started from the Corporation General Fund. 

At Ward No. 79, Govindasamy layout area, for the construction of rain water drainage and manhole covers at a cost of Rs.8 lakhs was inaugurated by the Minister. 

He also inaugurated the purified drinking water station at Chokkampudur Corporation Elementary School, installed at a cost of Rs.10 lakhs in Ward No.77. 

Further, he inaugurated and inspected a borewell, for the use of the public in the Sowdeshwari Colony area, constructed at a cost of Rs. 5 lakhs, from the Corporation General fund. 

Groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a genset room and installation of a 62.5 KVA genset at a cost of Rs. 15.50 lakhs from the Corporation General Fund, for the waste water pumping station on the Perur Main road (Opposite to Ram theater) in Ward no. 76 was also inspected by the Minister. 

Under the City of excellence scheme, Rs. 4.1 crore has been allotted for the construction of a wall to prevent flooding of the low lying areas from LIC Colony to Puttuviki road, by the Rajavaikaal rain water, for which the ground breaking was done. The construction of the shelter for the bus stand in LIC Colony, Telengupalayam was allotted Rs.12 lakhs, for which ground breaking was carried, today. 

Similarly, the Minister inaugurated the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of concrete roads in Thiru.Ve.Ka Nagar at an estimated cost of Rs.10 lakhs, from the Corporation General fund. 



Borewell constructed at a cost of Rs.7.5 lakhs, from the Corporation General Fund, in D.G.R. Nagar of Ward 76 was inaugurated for the public use. 



Groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a genset room and installation of a 40 KVA genset at a cost of Rs.14.60 lakhs from the Corporation General Fund, for the waste water pumping station on the main road of the Telengupalayam Junction in Ward no. 76 was also inspected by the Minister.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the additional building constructed for the Selvapuram health center at a cost of Rs.37.50 lakhs on Ward no. 86 was done today. Groundbreaking ceremony was also done for the construction of the meal center room and other developmental activities at the Corporation elementary school in Muthusamy Colony, Kallamedu at a cost of Rs. 15 lakhs. The Minister also inaugurated the new classrooms constructed at a cost of Rs.35 lakhs, at the school, for the use of the students.

Groundbreaking ceremony was also done for the construction of a bus shelter, from the MLA Development fund, for Rs.7.40 lakhs in Ward no.90, Barathi Nagar. Ration shop in ward no.91, K.P.R. Colony will also be constructed from the MLA development fund, for which groundbreaking ceremony was done. 

Groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a community hall, at a cost of Rs. 74.90 lakhs from the Corporation general fund was also done at Ward no. 92, Krishnasamy Nagar. Similarly, a indoor stadium construction in the area is to be done at a cost of Rs.64.90 from the Corporation General fund.

It was announced that an Indoor stadium at Ward no. 93, Pariram Colony will be constructed at a cost of Rs.38 lakhs, from the Corporation general fund. In total, the Minister for Municipal Administration and RDI, S.P.Velumani, inaugurated developmental activities worth Rs.9,31,30,000.

District Engineer R.Lakshmanan, South Zone Assistant Commissioner T.R.Ravi, West Zone Assistant Commissioner A.J.Senthilarasan, Executive engineer Saravana Kumar and the public took part in the events.
