Coimbatore: Minister SP Velumani distributed free bicycles and Q&A books worth Rs.7.5 crore to 500 students of various government schools in the city on Friday.
Coimbatore: Minister SP Velumani distributed free bicycles and Q&A books worth Rs.7.5 crore to 500 students of various government schools in the city on Friday.
The Minister for Municipal administration, SP Velumani inaugurated the event at S.R.P. Ammaniammal Girls Higher Secondary School at RS Puram, today.
He distributed free bicycles to 232 girl students of 11th standard of S.R.P. Amminiammal School, 184 students of class 11, of R.S.Puram Girls Higher Secondary School, 84 boys of the R.S.Puram Corporation Boys Higher Secondary School.
Free Q&A books were also distributed to 1332 students. 700 students of class 10 and 632 students of class 12 benefitted by receiving the books.
Speaking at the event Minister S.P. Velumani said, "CM Edapadi Palanisamy follows a systematic development approach like followed in the period of the Late Former CM Jayalalitha. People of Tamil Nadu are largely benefiting from the developmental and welfare schemes introduce by the CM."
"The Government is taking measures to help and encourage students by providing basic necessities for education like free bicycles, free laptops, colour uniforms, footwear, notebooks and others", the Minister said.
Chief Educational Officer, Usha, Corporation Education Officer A.Valliammal, West Zone Assistant Commissioner A.J.Senthil Arasan, Assistant Principal Sathish, other officials, students and the general public were present at the event.
