Judge Muralidharan issued the verdict on Friday and the accused Jayakumar was lodged in the Coimbatore central prison.
The judge further ordered to pay a fine of Rs.3,000 and directed the State government to pay Rs.6 lakhs as solatium to the victim.
The Case
S Jayakumar (35) from the Nilgiris was involved in an illicit affair with a woman in Kaithala Aravenu area, near Kothagiri. In this scenario, Jayakumar had been sexually abusing the daughter of the woman.
Based on the complaint by the girl, the Children's Welfare Protection Department registered a complaint at the Police station. Following inquiry, Jayakumar was arrested in 2017 and imprisoned at the Coimbatore Central Prison.
Meanwhile, the hearing of the case was held at the Ooty Mahila court. Today, the final arguments were putforth by government Prosecutor Malini.
