Coimbatore: Vice President, Venkaiah Naidu is in the city to take part in the Maha Sivarathri celebrations today (February 21), as the special guest at Isha Yoga Center here.
He was given a warm welcome at the Coimbatore International airport by the District Legislators, District administration and the Police department.
Following his arrivals, the Vice President visited the PSG College of Arts and Science, where he interacted with the students.
Subsequently, he will travel to the Isha Yoga Center on the Neelambur Bypass via Madukkarai, Kovaipudur and Perur.
At 5 PM, he will visit the Isha Yoga Center and take part in the celebrations, as the special guest and stay overnight at the yoga center. And, leave to Hyderabad on Saturday morning, through flight.
Under the orders of the West Zone Police IG K Periaiah, and under the guidance of the City Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan and District Superintendent of Police,bSujith Kumar, security operations have been beefed up.
More than five thousand police are deployed to provide security for the event and police from various districts within the west zone police limits have been deployed to various sensitive areas.
