Tirupur: Following the gruesome accident on the National Highways near Avinashi which has feared to have claimed 20 lives, the Tirupur District Collector visited the spot and ordered the officials to carry the rescue operations on war footing.
Tirupur: Following the gruesome accident on the National Highways near Avinashi which has feared to have claimed 20 lives, the Tirupur District Collector visited the spot and ordered the officials to carry the rescue operations on war footing.
On the early morning of Thursday, a container carrying tiles enroute from Kerala rammed head on with a KSRTC bus on the Avinashi National Highways. In the accident, around 19 people from the bus are feared dead. And, 23 passengers have reported to have sustained grievous injuries.
The Collector informed that the information has been passed on to the Kerala government and shortly a team from Kerala will be arriving to Avinashi to take charge of the bodies.
Tirupur District Collector K Vijayakarthikeyan has informed that resuce operations are ongoing on warfooting and all the injured have been sent to private and government hospitals for treatment.
He also noted the the container driver had gone absconding.
