BJP petitions Collector to declare local holiday for Koniyamman Temple Festival

Coimbatore: District BJP cadres have petitioned the Collector on Monday requesting to announce local holiday on March 4, the annual Koniyamman temple festival.


Coimbatore: District BJP cadres have petitioned the Collector on Monday requesting to announce local holiday on March 4, the annual Koniyamman temple festival. 

The Koniamman temple festival is celebrated annually in the Tamil month of Maasi (Feb 15 to March 15). 

Thousands of devotees in and around the city throng the temple to witness the famous Car (Ther) festival. 

In a bid to enable more public witness the traditional festival of the region, District President of BJP Nandakumar has petitioned the District Collector, K Rajamani to declare a local holiday on March 4.
