Surrounded by dense forests, spotting wild animals is not an easy ordeal for the villagers of Manjoor. However, recently a bear along a cub has strayed into the residential areas of Manjoor and been causing distress among the residents. The bear has been reportedly attacking shops and houses in the vicinity.
"Shops in Upper Bazaar area, a two-wheeler workshop in Kettarakandi owned by Balu have fallen prey to the recent bear attacks. The bear has also damaged the doors and windows panes of several houses, in search of food", informed the residents.
The residents also lamented that the bear had consumed oil and grease from a workshop which could cause health hazards to the animal.
Hence, the residents have demanded the foresters to capture the bear and the cub and release it inside dense forests.
