Coimbatore: The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (ICCI) Coimbatore has issued a press note thanking the Tamil Nadu government for a tax free budget which will help the manufacturing and trading sectors.

On behalf of the members, the President of ICCI, Coimbatore Chapter also expressed regret for non-allocation of funds for the implementation of metro rail project, the long felt need of Coimbatore.
The chamber further pressed on the need for allocation of funds for acquiring lands for Coimbatore International Airport expansion project which is long pending and very crucial for the development of Coimbatore.
They reiterated their plea for the speedy completion of Coimbatore Airport Expansion Projects.
We pledge our unstinted cooperation to the Government in all their endeavours that are taken for the development of trade and industry and welfare of the common man, said the President ICCI, Coimbatore Chapter.
The TN Budget for 2020-2021 presented by the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, O Panneerselvam shows that the government is committed for supporting the manufacturing/trading sectors.
The Chamber highlighted some of the salient features of the Budget.
* Allocation of Rs.500 crore in the budget for Athikadavu-Avinashi irrigation scheme for which Environmental Clearance has been obtained.
* Allocation of Rs.11,894.48 crore for agriculture department which will boost the agricultural activities and support the farmers.
* Proposal for establishment of Agro Processing Clusters in eight Districts under Prime Minister Kisan Programme during 2020-2021.
* Allocation of Rs.1,200 crore for establishing 11 new Medical Colleges already announced in 11 districts
* The announcement for reduction in Stamp Duty for rental agreements under the new Tenancy Act from 1% to 0.25% and Registration charges on such agreements from 1% to 0.25% subject to a maximum of Rs.5,000/-
* Allocation of Rs.200 crore for Labour Welfare and allocation of Rs.2,500 crore for industry development.
* Allocation of Rs.153 crore for IT communication
* Allocation of Rs.966 crore for free Lap-tops to the 11th standard students.
* Allocation for Rs. 607 crore for Micro Small and Medium industry.
