Releasing the final electoral roll in the presence of representatives of sever political parties, the District Collector informed that 29,91,923 voters in Coimbatore are eligible to cast their votes for the upcoming State assembly elections to be held in 2021.
"Based on the applications received from the people for addition, deletion and correction of names, the final electoral list has been released, today. According to the final voter list released today, there are 14,979,786 males, 15,11,767 females and 370 third gender voters constituting a total of 29,91,923 voters in the district", the Collector informed.
He added that 23,878 new voters in the age group of 18-19 years has been added to the final list.
A total of 5,824 voters have been removed from the voter list in Coimbatore district (2,179 voters - deceased, 2,953 voters - displaced and 692 voters with more than one record).
According to the final voter list released on 23.12.2019, there were 29,23,837 voters in the Coimbatore district. According to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, voter list revision work was carried out. Accordingly, special camps were organized for adding, deletion and change of address in the voter list.
A total of 73,910 voters, including 34,697 males, 39,187 females and 26 third gender were included in Form 6 to add it to the voter list.
In addition, a total of 5824 voters - 2942 males, 2881 females and 1 third sex voter have been eliminated through Form 7. Currently, there are 29,91,923 voters in the Coimbatore voter list released on February 14, 2020.
A series of revisions will take place at all Voter Registration Officers and Assistant Voter Registration Offices so that they can be added to the voter list in the future. Petitions have been arranged through the website regarding name adding, deletion and revision of voter list.
The public can upload their applications through the web address of www.nvsp.in or through the Android Voters' Helpline App.
District Revenue Officer Rama Duraimurugan, Deputy Corporation Commissioner, Prasanna Ramasamy, Revenue Divisional Officer Suresh, Direct Assistant (Election) Muthumalingam of the District Collector, authorized representatives of Political Parties were present.
