Coimbatore: Bomb blast day memorial rally will be held tomorrow with 5000 police personnel headed by ADGP L&O, deployed for security.
A series of bomb blasts rocked Coimbatore on February 14, 1998. Various Hindu organizations, including the Bharatiya Janata Party, hold rallies and tributes annually to mark this Bomb Blast Day.
This day is marked by processions and silent tributes on behalf of Hindu organisations on the eve of Bomb Blast Day. The security arrangements this year is headed by Law and Order ADGP Jayanthi Murali with the aide and guidance of Coimbatore Police Commissioner Sumit Saran. 2 DIGs, 4 Deputy Commissioners, 8 District SPs, Commando Division Police from 8 districts, and 5000 police personnel will be deployed to ensure that the processions are conducted without any problems.
ADGP Jayanthi Murali is scheduled to hold a consultation about these security measures today, police sources said.
