Subramaniam (31) from Dharapuram area who is serving imprisonment at Coimbatore Central Prison under POCSO act was admitted to the government hospital here after he complained of chest pain on Wednesday night.
Taking advantage of the situation, Subramaniam fled the spot on the early hours of Thursday. As all attempts made by the guards and the police on duty to find him failed, the Race Course police were alerted.
The police have launched a search operation.
